Hello there. Welcome to Entrepreneurial Goddess and the 4th post in my series entitled "Off On My Tangent!"

Are you sick, injured, depressed, anxious or just plain tired? Have you lost a friend or loved one to the outstretched arms of death? Do you wonder why? Do you find yourself asking the question: "If God is so powerful and really cares about us, why does he allow so much pain and suffering? Will it ever end?" I too have asked these same questions and there have even been times when I blamed God for everything bad in my life. However, after carefully studying the
Bible, I came to realize I was wrong for blaming God whose real name is Jehovah (Psalms 83:18). Want to find out more? I encourage you to read on.

Why, why, why? Why is there so much pain and suffering in the world? Perhaps you've been told that it is God's will or He works in mysterious ways. You can find the answer to this and so much more right in the Bible. For example, Job 34:10* says: "It is unthinkable for the true God to act wickedly, for the Almighty to do wrong". From this scripture, you can see that Jehovah God never causes what is bad. People often make the mistake of blaming God for all the suffering in the world, because they think He is the ruler of this world. Who would you say is the ruler of this world? Is it God, humankind or someone else? A simple but important Bible truth can be found at 1 John 5:19* and Revelation 12:7, 9, 12* which clearly states none other than Satan the Devil is the invisible ruler of this world. Are you surprised? I know I was, but it makes perfect sense doesn't it? Satan is hateful, angry, deceptive and cruel. So the world under his influence is also full of hatred, deceit and cruelty.

Another reason why there is so much suffering is because we as humans are imperfect. We inherited imperfection and sin from Adam and Eve. Ever since the rebellion in the Garden of Eden (I encourage you to read the account in Genesis 3:1-13*), humans tend to struggle for dominance resulting in wars, oppression and suffering (Ecclesiastes 4:1; 8:9*). So many people are fed up with injustice and poverty that they resort to protests thinking this will solve their problems. Have their protests succeeded? I think you can answer that for yourself! You only have to turn on the news to see what I'm talking about. Just look at the number of deaths around the world that have occurred in the past 'till now. Has anything been resolved? Have conditions gotten any better? Sadly, people are more worse off today than ever before.

What I find comforting is knowing that God does not cause suffering and is not responsible for the crimes, the wars, even the natural disasters that bring about human suffering. As Almighty God, He alone has the power to undo all the harm done to the earth and the effects of suffering. He has promised to do so (Revelation 21:4, 5*) and we know God cannot lie (Titus 1:2*). You can rest assured God will remove Satan and all wickedness from the earth. He will restore it to the paradise it was originally intended to be before Adam and Eve's disobedience. We even have the hope of seeing our dead loved ones again in the resurrection (John 5:28, 29; 11:25, 26*). Isn't this evidence enough of God's love for us? Of course it is! Unfortunately, mankind is so far removed from Him that God is allowing all these things to occur to see if we can succeed on our own without Him. We have not been successful thus far and quite frankly, we never will. You see, as humans, we were not created to rule ourselves separate from God (Jeremiah 10:23*). The Bible tells us in 2 Peter 3:9, 10* that: "God is patient because He does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance."

So there you have it...God does not cause suffering neither is He to be blamed for it. All these things - war, crime, sickness, death - were all foretold in the Bible and all have to be fulfilled. We have God's assurances that the effects of said things will be undone, but we have to be patient, remembering we are on Jehovah's timetable, not our own. We have to have faith that God's words recorded in the Bible will all come true as they have done in previous prophecies. The Bible can be a great source of comfort and can give us the answers to all of our questions if we know where to look for them. Afterall, Jehovah provided it for our instruction (2 Timothy 3:16, 17*). So I urge you, if you haven't already done so, pick up your Bible and start reading today. You will know the truth and the truth will set you free! (John 8:32)
