A to Z Challenge - P is for POETRY AND PASSION

Hello there. Welcome to Entrepreneurial Goddess.
I am taking part in the 2014 A-Z Challenge - 26 posts on 26 days of April, with Sundays off. Today's letter is: P for Poetry and Passion [Click here to see my other AtoZ posts]

Did you know poetry is one of the oldest forms of art? It comes in many different forms, some of which are rhyme, non-rhyming, prose, haiku, jingles and, dare I say it...even rap! Poetry stirs the imagination, making you feel.

You might have to read it several times before you get its full meaning, but once understood, poetry can evoke a plethora of emotions. Do you think the Bible is poetic? Why of course! A considerable portion of the Hebrew Scriptures is quite poetic. I encourage you to take some time to read the book of Job, Psalms, Proverbs and Lamentations. As an example, see if you can feel Adam's delight when Jehovah God presented Eve to him in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 2:23)

"This is at last bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh.
This one will be called Woman,
Because from man she was taken."

Now let's consider modern-day poetry. Poet Andy likes to write romantic poetry in his spare time. His style of poetry is like no other. It's non-rhyming, even prose-like, but he writes in such a way that you feel as if he can see into your heart and can read your thoughts. Add to this his blog music and you escape to faraway places where you become lost and comforted by his words. His poetry really is magical. Unfortunately, due to a hectic schedule, he hasn't been as actively involved with his writing as he would like, but you'll find an array of poetry to choose from over at his blog, Thoughts Of Beauty In The Stillness Of Dawn... He was kind enough to let me "borrow" a new one of his to whet your appetite!

Some misfortunes in life
– be it yours or mine –
are a direct result
of sinful imperfection,
which no human
can deny or escape.

 Whenever fear
and disappointment
creep into your thoughts,
remember you can find
comfort and refuge
within my tender heart.

Whenever you are swayed
by the injustices of this world,
let my loving hands bathe you
in a river of peacefulness.
(Continued here...)

See you next time!

    1. Hello rscottamsbaugh.
I am by no means a poet, but I do love poetry and music...I think poetry is music and music can be poetic, both need each other. Wishing you all the best with the challenge too! Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I often try to scribble poetry. Some are also posted on my blog. The only factor I wish to work on is to get it rhyming.
    Nice post :)
