Bible Teachings 409

Hello there. Welcome to Entrepreneurial Goddess and Episode 9 of my mini Bible series "Bible Teachings".

Let's recap: Satan promoted the idea of independence from God back in the Garden of Eden when he tempted Eve. Disobedience and sin leading to death ensued, affecting us all. Jehovah God took immediate steps to correct this problem by pronouncing a prophecy that would provide a way for us to get out from under the curse of inherited sin and death (Genesis 3:15*). The details of that prophecy were not well known at that time, but have been gradually revealed in God's Word, the Bible.

Do you think self-rulership and independence from God is working? Most people today are physically, spiritually and morally sick. Past history and current worldwide conditions have shown human rulership causes oppression leading to war, unrest, poverty and death (Ecclesiastes 8:9*). Our first parents, Adam and Eve were perfect. They lived in a perfect paradise, with the prospect of living on earth forever, but they lacked appreciation for all the good things they had received from their heavenly Father, Jehovah God, rebelling against His rulership in a despicable act of disobedience (Genesis 3:6*). Thus, perfect life, everlasting life and peaceful conditions were lost to us (being Adam's descendants). This is not how God intended things to be. His purpose was and still is for earth to be inhabited and filled with his perfect and righteous creation (Genesis Chapter 1; Isaiah 45:18*). The prophecy recorded at Genesis 3:15* is God's means to clear His Name of the false charges brought about by Satan, to get rid of Satan and his demons once and for all and to bring about peace and perfection on earth, just as conditions were in Eden prior to Adam's sin.
Now here's an important fact you might not have considered: The promised "seed" of Genesis 3:15* could not be of human origin. Why not? Imperfection and sin still exists today. We may live a good life and abide by the law, but we humans are all still under the curse of sin in that we still get sick, wither away and die. On the other hand, Satan is a spirit person. He is far superior to humans and as a spirit, is invisible to us. In order to do battle with him then, the promised "seed" would also have to be a spirit person, one who is even more powerful than Satan. Remember, Satan raised some serious charges against Jehovah God including His Sovereignty (right to rule) and His truthfulness. Satan charged God had made a mistake in the way He created humans and he even pointed the finger at us by implying we would not remain faithful to God when faced with difficulty or trial (Job:31 1:6-12; 2:1-5*). So this promised "seed" would have to have tremendous love for God (Proverbs 8:30; John 14:31*), love for the human race (Proverbs 8:31) and have been tempted, tested and proved faithful, even to death in order to prove Satan wrong (1 Peter 2:22, 23*). Can you think of anyone who would be suitable to fill this role? Tune in for the special edition finale beginning with Episode 10 (Pt.1)!
