Hello there. Welcome to Entrepreneurial Goddess and the 27th post in my series entitled "Off On My Tangent!"

As kids, while playing skipping-rope (jump-rope for those in the US), whenever we thought one or the other was telling a fib or two, we used to taunt each other and our friends with the rhyme "Liar, liar, pants on fire!" This was done innocently of course, but do you know that you are actually being lied to on a far grander scale?

Regardless of what religious denomination you are or even if you're not affiliated with any particular religion, we all have a common enemy. Can you think what that might be? I'll tell you - it's DEATH! Yes indeed, doesn't matter if you're rich, poor, black, white, young or old, all of us will at some point succumb to the outstretched arms of death. We inherited death from Adam's disobedience, but what do you really know about death and the condition of the dead?

To understand what happens to dead people when they die, you must go back to the creation account. The Bible says that God formed Adam "out of dust from the ground." God then went on to "blow the breath of life" into his nostrils and Adam "became a living person." (Genesis 2:7*) God then put Adam in the original Paradise, the Garden of Eden. If Adam had done what he was supposed to and just obeyed God's command not to eat from the forbidden tree, he wouldn't have died, but would've still been alive today! When Adam deliberately broke God's command, Jehovah God said to him: "In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return." (Genesis 3:19*)

Got that? So where was Adam before he was created from dust? He was nowhere, he didn't exist. Remember the steps - God first formed the body from dust then blew life into the nostrils. At death then, the reverse of that happens - the breath of life goes back to God since He is the only One who can give it in the first place and the body returns to the dust from where it came. The end. Just like YOU didn't exist anywhere before you were born, so Adam did not exist before God gave him life. At death, Adam once again became lifeless, nonexistent. That means others who have died are also non-existent. Consider these additional Scriptures:
-- "His spirit goes out, he returns to the ground; On that very day his thoughts perish." (Psalms 146:4*)
-- "All [both humans and animals] are going to the same place. They all come from dust, and they all are returning to the dust." (Ecclesiastes 3:20*)
-- "For the living know that they shall die; but the dead know not any thing." (Ecclesiastes 9:5 King James Version)

If you have been taught that dead people are suffering in some other realm, in hell-fire or purgatory [all common religious teachings], you are being lied to. Dead people are non-existent, lifeless. They cannot harm you or help you. They cannot do anything. Humans will twist the truth to fit their teachings and lifestyles. (Psalms 12:2; John 8:44*) Any teaching or story not based on the Scriptures is false and therefore a LIE! (1 Timothy 1:4*) Thankfully, Jehovah God cannot lie and He Himself hates liars! (Proverbs 6:16; John 17:17; Titus 1:2*) So reject the lie (Colossians 2:8; 2 Timothy 2:16*) and always look to God's Word, the Bible, for truth. (Isaiah 48:17, 18; 2 Timothy 3:16*)
